Getac’s V110 to power Blue Print subsea Artemis Diver Navigation System

Challenge:

Blueprint Subsea specializes in creating imaging sonars, acoustic positioning beacons, and diver navigation systems for the subsea, defense, and search & rescue sectors. All their solutions are internally designed and manufactured using advanced techniques to ensure exceptional reliability and performance in challenging field conditions. The company’s Artemis Diver Navigation System is trusted by special forces and emergency services professionals worldwide, offering covert navigation, sonar imaging, and acoustic communication in a compact and portable design. The system is built to be highly robust, requiring a digital control device that can excel in the demanding and hostile environments users often face. “Our Artemis users need a control device they can rely on in diverse conditions, from bright sunlight to high humidity, rain, snow, blizzards, and more,” says Rachael Reader, Sales and Marketing at Blueprint Subsea. “The control device is commonly used near water on docks, boats, beaches, etc., so water resistance is crucial. It also needs to be rugged enough to withstand rough handling by military personnel.”

Solution:

After thorough market research, Blueprint Subsea selected Getac’s V110 notebook as the ideal device for its Artemis interface. Designed primarily for defense, the V110’s rugged build provides the reliability crucial to Artemis. It holds MIL-STD-810H and IP65 certifications, operates in temperatures from -29°C to 63°C (-20°F to 145°F), and can withstand drops of up to four feet while in use.

The V110 offers exceptional connectivity for optimal productivity. 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 enhances connection performance and stability in crowded environments, while WLAN Wi-Fi 6 delivers up to three times faster wireless data speeds than previous generations. A combination of WLAN, WWAN, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, and GPS ensures connectivity in remote environments, with advanced technology reducing power consumption for extended field use. The V110’s unique hinge design enables users to switch between touchscreen and keyboard inputs swiftly based on the task, and hot-swappable batteries extend usage times as needed.

Benefits:

Since adopting the V110, Blueprint Subsea’s Artemis customers have been highly impressed. Many have praised its exceptional reliability. “The absence of issues is what makes the V110 a valuable tool,” notes Rachael. “Its ability to endure extreme environments allows users to perform operations in high-pressure scenarios, crucial for mission success.” The V110’s strong connectivity facilitates field communication, mission planning, and diver tracking. Its adaptable form factor is also popular, enabling users to switch input modes for tasks like planning and debriefing. “The V110 handles hostile environments, water proximity, rugged use, and accidental drops with ease, allowing our customers to consistently benefit from Artemis,” adds Rachael. “Additionally, Getac offers excellent customer service, always accommodating new projects. We anticipate continuing this successful tech partnership for years to come.”
